A Neighbourhood Plan is a document created by local people which sets out our planning policies where they live. Once agreed by Wiltshire Council, it will be a legally binding document that the Planning Department and those seeking to develop property must take notice of. This is in line with the Localism Act 2011 which promotes more “bottom up” involvement with less “top down” prescription.
The Neighbourhood Plan for Box will influence decisions on new homes, new amenities and new business accommodation. It must be based on how residents want the community to look in the future. A Steering Group of local resident volunteers, has been setup by the Parish Council to gather views and construct the plan. An initial survey will be conducted over autumn 2019 to gather your views. This follows on from a specific survey of housing needs which was circulated to all residents in April 2019 the results of which have now been analysed. Government finance is available to assist in the process of creating a Neighbourhood plan and was applied for in June 2019.
